Ecuador (2025-): Otoscope
DESCRIPTION
This project aims to build an affordable, professional otoscope to help doctors diagnose inner ear problems and track patient recovery more easily. The design includes a built-in camera to take and save photos. The project entails working with nursing students, doing CAD work, and designing the electronics.
IMPLEMENTATION
This project was just initiated in 2025 and is in the early stages of design. The current design has been introduced to some practicing nurses in Utah Valley. The design will also be introduced to physicians and nurses in Ecuador in Summer 2026. Feedback will be used to further develop the otoscope before implementation.
