Ecuador (2020-): Prosthetic Liner

Hidden image

DESCRIPTION

This project is focused on the continuous development of low-cost prosthetic liners. Current applications involve producing and testing prosthetic liners for use at a clinic in Ecuador. By sourcing materials from Ecuador, the clinic can save on shipping, making the prosthetic liners more accessible to those who need them.

IMPLEMENTATION

We are currently working with Protesis Imbabura on testing the liners with patients from the clinic. With a current IRB, we have placed liners on several patients. Liners have lasted several weeks to months. More sustainable liners are being developed through additional design aspects associated with the liner thickness, the ability of the liner to remove heat more quickly, and the attachment of the distal pin.
